Print this Article Written by: Stu Gaskell Saturday, August 18, 2007BYSA has recently been notified of a conflict at the Town Beach area for our games scheduled on Saturday September 15th as the Blue Cross/Blue Shield Walk Rhode Island event is due to take place. This event will host approx 1500 people and as you can imagine will severly impact on parking and access to the fields.
As a result and following a decision by the Executive Board, all games for Saturday September 15th have been cancelled and rescheduled for Saturday October 6th (Columbus Day weekend). Timings will remain the same. The schedule has been updated accordingly on the BYSA Website. We apologise for any inconvenience this will cause.
The Executive Board would like to thank you all for your support of Bristol Youth Soccer. There are over 550 players registered for the Fall program and like yourselves we hope to have a very successful year and that all players have a wonderful experience and enjoy themselves. There are waiting lists in effect for U4 / U6 Boys / U8 Boys age groups.
Please remember that BYSA is run solely by volunteers some of whom put in a tremendous amount of time and effort to make this program as successful as can be.
We would like to draw your attention to the following issues for the forthcoming season.
Rosters / Schedules All team rosters and schedules have been formed and are posted on the website. If your child(ren) no longer intend to play in the forthcoming season, please let me know soonest as there are a number of players on waiting lists.
PAYMENT All parents who are still to pay for their child(ren)'s participation in the Fall program to forward a check made payable to BYSA, PO BOX 477 BRISTOL 02809.
Opening Day / First Game Please note that opening day is AUGUST 25th when first games are scheduled
Uniform Requirements All players will be required to have the following. Soccer cleats or sneakers Soccer shin guards Soccer socks Soccer shorts Size 3 Soccer Ball (U4 & U6, U8) Size 4 Soccer Ball (U10, U12) Team t-shirts will be provided by BYSA.
Coaches / Volunteers We are also still looking for willing parents to volunteer to assist the program both in Coaching, Field Maintenance and general game day duties. If you are willing to help please contact me at registrar@bristolyouthsoccer.com.
Concessions Again, BYSA will have a concession stand open throughout the season selling cold drinks, Hot Dogs, Burgers, Chips, Pizza etc etc. All profits go back into the BYSA program to pay for new equipment.
Parking During recent years, parking has become very congested at the Town Beach area. As a result BYSA will have an overflow car park on the field between the soccer fields and the waterfront. Access to this area is through Colt State Park. Directional signs will be posted.
If you have any questions / suggestions etc please let me know.
Thank you and have a great Summer!
