Tremendous goal keeping efforts were again made by Haley Correria and Sarah Varrachionne. The keepers held Tiverton to just two goals in the first half and only one additional goal in the second half.
Offensively, scoring opportunities were turned into goals by Kerrie Larson, Rayna Medeiros, Georgia Teixeira, Michaela Carvalho and Jenna Cimbron. Teixeira put four in the net. Larson followed her lead with three goals. Offensive responsibilities were also shared by Abi Lombardo, Sarina Olson, Sarah Jane Klein and Colleen Killeavy. The players were very unselfish in front of the goal and executed fantastic passing at all points on the pitch.
On the defensive front, the Cyclones kept Tiverton from attacking their goal through the first fifteen minutes of the game. Defensive duties were held by all members of the team throughout the game.
After completion of the match, Coach Kris was asked about the team’s win and commented “We won because we didn’t lose.” He went on to say “There are no secrets to our success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure.”
The Cyclones take to the field on Saturday at 2pm versus a strong second place Bristol Sweepers team. Coach Brum has promised teddy bears and candy for the winning team.
