Print this Article Written by: League Administrator Tuesday, September 1, 2009Thank you for registering your child(ren) and welcome to the Bristol Youth Soccer fall recreational soccer program.
During the past number of years we have had tremendous success with the program and are again delighted to have over 500 children who will be participating this forthcoming season.
As you can imagine with such a small band of dedicated volunteers we cannot do everything perfect but we strive to make the program a most enjoyable experience for all children who participate.
If you have any questions and or concerns throughout the season please contact me directly either on game day or via email to president@bristolyouthsoccer.com
Below is an outline on some of the questions you may have prior to the season opening.
Rosters All rosters are available on the BYSA website (http://www.bristolyouthsoccer.com)and are listed by age group. There have been a few minor changes in order to accommodate some late registrations and to also balance out the teams so please check listings.
We are in the process of providing all coaching staff with the relevant contact information for their teams so you expect a call/email from your assigned coach within the next few days/weeks regarding games/practices etc.
Game Schedule All games will be played at the Bristol Town Beach soccer fields and the first games are slated for Saturday August 29th.
The complete game schedule can be found at http://www.bristolyouthsoccer.com/upls/Fall%2009%20Game%20Schedule%20Master.pdf
Game Cancelations If for any reason we have to cancel games due to inclement weather and or poor field conditions notice will be given by email at least 1 hour prior to game time and via notice on the the website at http://www.bristolyouthsoccer.com.
Practice Sessions Practice sessions/timings are at the discretion of the assigned coaching staff. Again, the coaches will be in contact with all players regarding timings when known.
Uniforms BYSA will supply shirts for all players however; all are required to provide their own soccer shorts, socks, cleats/sneakers and shin guards (any color is applicable).
Coaches will be issued with shirts for distribution to their teams prior to opening day accordingly.
Children must also provide their own soccer balls for practice sessions as follows; U4/U6/U8 – size 3 U10/U12 – size 4 U14 – size 5
Car Parking Car parking can be very tight during game days at the town beach lot. Therefore it is recommended that full use be given to the two overflow car park lots close to the bike path and also on the Horse Field (entrance via Colt State Park – see following) http://www.bristolyouthsoccer.com/upls/Additional%20Car%20Parking.bmp
The Recreation Department has graciously allowed free access to all BYSA participants to park at the town beach car lot on August 29th.
Be warned that any car illegally parked will receive a ticket from the Bristol Police Dept.
Volunteers Required As a non profit organization, BYSA relies totally from volunteers both in the coaching and at the board level.
As a result we are always seeking volunteers to assist the program either at the registration desk to answer questions, provide directions to fields and or to assist run the concession stand.
If you are able to afford some spare time please let me know.
Please remember the object is for the children to have fun and to enjoy the experience of soccer. All parents/spectators should only give positive encouragment to all participants during both practice and game days.
If you have any specific questions not covered above please email me.
I look forward to seeing you all soon.
Regards
Stu Gaskell BYSA President
