The Broncos took to the pitch on February 2, and won their third game of the second indoor session. This time the opponent was the DR Strikers Green team. The final score was 9-2.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
The Broncos goal keeping efforts were made by Michaela Goglia and Lauren James. The keepers held the Strikers to just two goals in the entire game.
During the first half the Strikers were allowed to add an extra player. This had little effect on the dominate Broncos. The Broncos continued to move the ball up the field. The Broncos were relentless in creating scoring opportunities.
Offensively, scoring opportunities were turned into goals by Chloe Headrick, Aurora Faria, Kennedy Cabral, Madison Fairbanks, Rebeccah Trefethen, and Sophie McKenzie. Emma Egan dislayed great field awarness, and aggressive play contributing to the Broncos success. The players were very unselfish in front of the goal and executed fantastic passing at all points on the pitch. Coach Klein was overheard telling reporters Im very pleased with the unselfishness of the offense. When six different players score goals they are passing the ball to the open player.
On the other side of the field the defense played very aggressive. The defense again allowed very few shots on net. The stingy defense was played by Cassidy Allen, Lauren James, Madison Fairbanks, Megan Johnstone, Michaela Goglia, and Rebeccah Trefethen. During the second half the defense really applied pressure and moved forward to the midfield line and kept the ball in the opponents half of the field.
Next week the Broncos will take to the pitch against the Westport Wildcats. The Broncos beat the Wildcats during the first week. This rematch is sure to be an exciting one. So come early and get a good seat. Dont forget to cheer for your favorite player or coach.
Practice is at 5:30 at TW this week.
