The Bristol Revolution successfully completed their season with a RI Cup Championship in the U-12 Anchor division.

The team qualified for the RI Cup tournament by placing 3rd during the regular season.  The 3rd place finish automatically seeded them in the semi-finals against the Warwick FireFighters team that had handed them 1 of their 2 regular season losses.

On Saturday, the Revolution held a  2-0 lead over Warwick at the end of the 1st half.  The lead was built on some great passing and a stingy defense along with steady goal keeping.  They started the 2nd half off with a quick goal on a penalty shot, giving them a 3-0 lead.

With the big lead the Revolution got a little sloppy and Warwick capitalized on a couple quick goals to make it a 3-2 game.  The Bristol team then got back to work and put a lot of pressure on the Warwick defense.  Although they were unable to bury another goal, they carried the play and kept Warwick pinned in their own end.  The Revolution were able to run the clock out and advance to the finals on Sunday.

The finals had them matched against a strong South County team.  South County had only 1 loss during the regular season and finished in 1st place.  Their only loss though had come against the Bristol Revolution team.  I am sure that they had revenge on their minds.  South County had advanced to the finals by beating Barrington on penalty kicks after 2 overtime periods.

Both teams had chances early on but the defenses held through the whole 1st half, and it ended tied at 0.  The Bristol Revolution got on the board about halfway through the 2nd half after some sustained pressure lead to a pass back to the defense and a strong shot that got by the goalie.  From there the defense along with the midfielders getting back to help kept the South County team from getting any real good shots on goal.  The shots that did get through were gobbled up without rebounds by the goalie.

The game ended and the Bristol Revolution were the RI Cup Champions!!!  This was a great team effort all around and they should all be commended for a great tournament and season.
