Bristol U12 Girls prove to be a FORCE

In the first competitive tournament as a team the U/12 girls proved to be a FORCE!!

Seconds into the damp first game on Saturday, Torri Viera started the charge with a low hard shot that beat the Barrington keeper for a 1-0 start. This was just the beginnig of a scoring attack that included a second goal from Torri,  Elizabeth DaPonte's first in competitive play, as well as Ariel Hill with her first of the year. This was a true team effort as Rachel Gaska and Trudy Robinson controlled the play at midfield while Taylor Sousa and Ali Wetherald combined on defense to limit only three shots on goal. Bristol cruised to a 4-1 victory!!

Saturday afternoon presented a bit more of a challenge for the young Bristol team, as Portsmouth came out on the attack and jumped out to an early 1-0 score by slipping in a shot past an otherwise perfect Vivian Ramos, who had held Barrington scoreless in the first half of the earlier game.

Beacause of great defense, that would be the end of Portsmouth's scoring bids. The FORCE defense and midfielders took charge, and allowed Torri Viera and Julia Vollaro to put us up 2-1 with back to back goals over a three minute span. Sarah Trefethen held the lead in net while the Bristol girls peppered the Portsmouth keeper with shots but was held scorelss the rest of the way. The FORCE held on for a 2-1 win!!!

Sunday morning was the best challenge of the weekend. Barrington scored just about 2 minutes in with a skipping drive. Bristol was on the attack all game. There were many scoring opportunities, which included a hit crossbar, and two off the posts, not to mention a cornerkick and deflection that drew cheers from the Bristol fans, and growns from the Barrington fans, but was not acknoledged by the officiating crew. Bristol was held scoreless until the 45th minute when Ariel Hill had a perfectly placed one touch off of a corner kick that tied the game at 1-1. The force played to a 1-1 tie!!!!

With no defeats Bristol FORCE took home the championship in their division!!! WAY TO GO!!!!!!
