Bristol U-10 Girls Complete Impressive Indoor Season
Bristol Youth Soccer Association formed three U-10 girls teams for the 2006-2007 Indoor Program. Each had very successful seasons and demonstrated the growing depth of the Bristol soccer program.
The Bristol Colts capped an undefeated First Session by capturing the Teamworks U-10 Girls A-Division championship over Barrington. For the Second Session, the Colts competed in the U-12 Girls B-Division. They completed the Second Session with an impressive 6-3-1 record before losing in the playoffs to Tiverton.
The Colts also participated in two U-10 A-Division Indoor tournaments at Forekicks Indoor Complex with competition that included Premier teams. They fared well in match play before losing close games in the Semi-finals each time.
The Bristol Mustangs finished the Teamworks U-10 Girls B-Division First Session with a record of 6-1-1. They were playoff Runner-ups, losing to Pawtucket in the Finals. In the Second Session, the Mustangs finished with a 4-4-1 record in the U-10 B-West Division. They beat Portsmouth (2-1) and Tiverton (4-3 in a shootout) in the playoffs before losing to top-seed Swansea/Somerset in the Finals and settling for Second Place again.
The Mustangs also competed in the February Winter Break U-10 Girls B-Division Tournament at the Forekicks Indoor Complex. They were undefeated in the Tournament and captured the Championship by defeating Mansfield in the Finals. This was a great accomplishment as they were the first Bristol Youth Soccer team to capture a title at this Tournament.
The Bristol Broncos finished the Teamworks U-10 Girls B-Division First Session with a respectable record of 3-5-1 and lost to Pawtucket (eventual Champions) by a score of 4-1 in the Semi-Finals. The Broncos built on their First Session experience and finished the Second Session with a record of 7-1-1 in the U-10 B-East Division. The record included an exciting tie with Pawtucket. The Broncos advanced to the Second Session Championship against Pawtucket, but lost 5-3. They were playoff Runner-Ups.
The Broncos competed in the Warwick Indoor Sports February Tournament. It was a new experience for all of the players and they improved in each game, losing the third game 2-1.
The Bristol United team was formed to fill the A-Division vacancy left by the Colts move to the U-12 Division. The Bristol Mustangs team was augmented with two U-9 Colts players and one player from the Broncos to create the United team. The United finished the season with a 4-5 record and advanced to the Finals by defeating Barrington. Bristol United lost in the Finals to Warren.
